Bengaluru: Traffic was thrown out of gear on the busy Nelamangala highway in the early hours of Monday when a truck loaded with wooden logs turned turtle blocking the highway.

The truck, which was heading towards Bengaluru, overturned after two of its rear tyres burst and caught fire because of low air pressure near Himalaya Drug Company. The wooden logs rolled on both sides of the highway obstructing vehicle movement.

Within minutes, there was a two kilometre-long pileup of vehicles to and from Bengaluru. The Nelamangala traffic police rushed to the spot and it took them over two hours to clear the wooden logs with the help of earthmovers, while a crane pulled the truck to facilitate the movement of traffic.

The highway passing through Nelamangala is one of the busiest in the state.
