Hyderabad: Officials said on Saturday that Chinnari, the 16-month-old who slipped into a borewell on Thursday, is suspected to be at around 215 feet.

Chances of the infant’s survival are becoming bleak with every passing hour. So far, despite the sophisticated cameras of NDRF and ONGC, the child has not been spotted.

The work of the pit has also slowed down forty feet down, they hit rock. Work was stalled for a bit. Now the width of the pit has been widened up to 30 feet and the digging process has started again.

Efforts to pump out water has started. Meanwhile, health officials in the rescue work, said that though oxygen was supplied till Friday, the chances of her survival are impossible.

On Saturday morning, after the teams from Oil and Natural Gas Corporation joined the rescue, they sent a waterproof camera into the well to locate her, but could not proceed as water was traced at 145 feet. However, the digging of the parallel pit also continued till late night on Saturday after efforts to locate the girl using high definition cameras and different techniques all failed.

Officials said the cameras could not go further inside due to the water. After pumping out water, a high definition camera was sent in but it could not go beyond 22 feet and its lens were also covered with mud and silt.

Later, 3D cameras from a construction firm in Hyderabad were also called for on Saturday night to trace the baby’s location.

Transport minister P. Mahender Reddy said that the girl was last seen on Friday afternoon, before the motor was pulled up from the borewell. “But on Saturday, the cameras could not identify her. Only some stains on the inner walls of the well were captured. Despite water from the well being pumped out, there was no trace of the girl”, the minister said.

Meanwhile, a team of doctors are ready with emergency equipment to provide immediate medical assistance to the child after retrieving her from the well. The officials are also assuring the panic-stricken parents that they will bring out the child safely.
