Hyderabad: Bars, pubs lacking fire safety seized

Out of these, 600 establishments had applied for Fire Safety Inspection and had taken steps to comply with safety equipment as per norms.

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s enforcement teams on Thursday conducted raids on city bars, pubs and seized several of them for not maintaining fire safety measures. Enforcement teams led by Mr Viswajit Kampati, IPS, Director Enforcement, Vigilance and Disaster Management along with DFO Mr Sudhakar, DFO Mr Krishna, SFOs Mr Shoukath and Mr Govardhan seized the erring pubs and bars for failing to prove that fire and life safety measures were being taken as as per the prescribed norms.

For the past 6 months,the Directorate of EV & DM has been inspecting all the established pubs, bars and restaurants in the city. 700 establishments which were located in Hyderabad in GHMC limits had been identified. Out of these, 600 establishments had applied for Fire Safety Inspection and had taken steps to comply with safety equipment as per norms. Notices had been issued. In this connection previously 8 establishments were seized and on Thursday 10 more establishments have been seized for failing to comply with the fire and safety regulations.
