Chennai: Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) on Wednesday held a protest demonstration condemning alleged police excess while dispersing Jallikattu protesters from the Marina beach in Chennai.

Demanding a judicial inquiry into the alleged excess, TNCC chief Su Thirunavukkarasar wondered how anti-social elements could have crept into the congregation of peaceful protesters when a large number of police personnel were present.

He said had the law to allow Jallikattu had been enacted before, the situation would not have come to such a pass.

TNCC chief also hit out at the Centre for its demonetisation drive and said it had affected the people.
