HYDERABAD: The police will be deploying a total of about 1,500 personnel around the Rashtrapati Nilayam at Bolaram in the city, for President Droupadi Murmu's southern sojourn starting from Monday. This will be President Murmu’s first visit to the city after assuming office in July.

This deployment will be in addition to the personnel from central security and intelligence agencies who will provide security to the First Citizen. This is the first southern sojourn of the President after a two-year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Further, the President would be taking part in several programmes in different parts of the city — crisscrossing the three city commissionerates — and traffic restrictions would be imposed on a need basis, police sources said.

According to Hyderabad city police officials, the arrangements were being made as per the provisions of the Blue Book. The Advance Security Liaison (ASL) had been completed and coordination meetings with other departments had been conducted to ensure foolproof security and arrangements were in place.

Police had begun area domination exercises and sanitised the surrounding areas in terms of security.

While the President’s security is the top priority, the traffic arrangements would be made ensuring minimum inconvenience to the commuters, police sources said. The restrictions, traffic diversions would be communicated to the public from time to time through different media, they added.
