BJP workers take out a rally against Excise Minister H.Y. Meti in Bagalkote on Wednesday.

Hubballi: Just  a couple of weeks after the Meti sex scandal made headlines, Bilagi Congress MLA,  J T Patil says he is worried  television channels could telecast a similar "fake video" targeting him.

Losing no time, Mr Patil has managed to get a temporary injunction from the high court against a possible telecast of the video by the channels. The legislator moved  the court soon after a channel claimed  an opposition party had similar video footage against him.

Speaking to reporters in Bagalkot on Friday, Mr Patil claimed  he had approached the court to protect his dignity as the airing of the fake CD could greatly damage his reputation in his constituency.

"Anyone can  fabricate a video using modern technology to tarnish my image. I am facing such a situation for the first time in the 30 years that I have been in politics and so approached the high court to restrain news channels from telecasting the video footage. I have a lot of respect for both the judiciary and the media," he said.

Denying that he had ever been involved in any sexual escapades, he  claimed he had not received any threat either.
