Emirates leaves Karipur in lurch
Airlines accused of violating bilateral pact.
KOZHIKODE: The Emirates Airlines, which had promised to operate Code-E flights from Karipur airport, has been accused of violating the bilateral agreement signed between India and the UAE.
"From April 30, 2015 to July 5, 2019, the Airport Authority of India had banned the operations of Code-E aircraft at Karipur due to runway maintenance. It was in those circumstances that the DGCA agreed to shift the flight slots of the airline to nearby airports,” K.M. Basheer, forum president, told reporters here on Wednesday.
After the repair was over, the DGCA directed the airline to resume the operations. Now the Emirates has allegedly demanded an additional 2,500 seats to resume the services from Karipur which is a violation of the agreement," Mr Basheer said.
