Thiruvananthapuram: Sudani from Nigeria, Ee Ma Yau to compete at IFFK

12 Malayalam films make it to annual festival scheduled from December 7 and 13.

Thiruvananthapuram: Debut director Sakhariya's Sudani From Nigeria and Lijo Jose Pallissery's Ee Ma Yau have been selected for the competition section of the 23rd International Film Festival Of Kerala, organised by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, at Thiruvananthapuram from December 7 to 13.

Cultural minister A.K. Balan and Chalachitra Academy chairman Kamal made the announcement in a press conference here on Tuesday.

As many as 12 films - Soubin Shahir's Parava, Jayaraj's Bhayanakam, Unnikrishnan Avala's Udalazham, Aashiq Abu's Mayanadhi, Vinu AK's Bilathikuzhal, Vipin Vijay's Prathibhasam, B. Ajithkumar's Eeda, P.K. Bijukutan's Oath, Binu Bhaskar's Kottayam, Sumesh Lal's Humans Of Someone, Gautham Soorya's Sleeplessly Yours, and Vipin Radhakrishnan's Ave Maria - for the 'Malayalam Today' category. Of these 14 films, 10 are directorial debuts, and six have had a theatrical release.

The registration of delegates for the film festival will begin on November 1 at the regional centres of Chalachitra Academy in Kannur, Kozhikkode, Thrissur, Kottayam and Thiruvananthapuram. The delegate passes will be charged Rs 2000, with 50 per cent concession to students. The Academy has also decided not to issue free passes this year. There will be no cash prize attached with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Chalachitra Academy has decided to organise the IFFK in a low key manner.
