Telangana: Thunderstorms on October 26

Hydedrabad has received 232% excess rainfall in October, and the state 47% accor-ding to the IMD.

Hyderabad: The thunderstorm warning for the state has been extended for the next 24 hours.

Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning are very likely to occur at isolated places across all he on October 24.

The rains are not due to the southwest monsoon but, according to Skymet Weather, are being caused by a trough extending from South Chhattisgarh to South Konkan across Telangana state and South Maharashtra.

The local weather bureau said meteorological conditions were favourable for withdrawal of the monsoon from the remaining parts of the country during next 48 hours and commencement of northeast monsoon rain over the peninsula by October 26.

During the last 24 hours, the southwest monsoon was weak over Telangana state.  On Monday, rain occurred at several places across Telangana state. Scanty rainfall was recorded in the city too.

According to data available with the Indian Meteorological Department, Hyderabad has received 232 per cent excess rain so far in October. The rest of the state is also in the surplus zone, having received 47 per cent more rainfall in the month.
