Hyderabad: The LB Nagar to Ameerpet Metro corridor, which has one of the most congested roads in the city, will become operational on Monday, September 24. It is a crucial link between the north-western and south-eastern parts of the city through the core part of Hyderabad. The new LB Nagar to Ameerpet Metro has iconic structures which would be a treat to watch during the commute.

The train will go past Assembly, Moazzam Jahi Market, Osmania Medical College, and Exhibition Grounds. It connects major bus and railway stations including MGBS, Nampally, Dilsukhnagar and LB Nagar and links with Khairatabad and  Malakpet MMTS.

The MGBS Interchange Metro Rail station is one of the biggest Metro Rail stations in Asia. It connects corridor-I Miyapur-LB Nagar and corridor-II at JBS-Falaknuma. While the corridor-I station is at a lower level (1st and 2nd floor level), corridor-II station is at the upper level (3rd and 4th floor level). With a length of 140 metres and width of 45 metres, MGBS has got two arms, one catering to MGBS bus depot and the other to Chaderghat area across the Musi river.

In a press statement, HMR MD N.V.S. Reddy said, “Two big skywalks connect all the platforms of MGBS bus station on one side and the second skywalk connects Chaderghat area.

Chaderghat skywalk is 600-foot long and 20-foot wide. The skywalks are very wide keeping in mind the increase in traffic over the next few decades.”

The street level on both MGBS side and Chaderghat side is being beautified with a combination of cobblestones, Tandur and Shahbad stones to merge with the “Heritage Precinct” being developed by HMRL in the 5-km stretch between Assembly station and MGBS via Nampally, MJ Market, Jambagh, Osmania Medical College (OMC), and Rang Mahal.

Railings designed in the Indo-Persian style will extend from Nampally to MGBS.
