Kerala officials try to stop Tamil Nadu prayers for rain

Tamil Nadu farmers have been following this practice for many years seeking almighty for good rain during southwest monsoon.

Theni: The Kerala forest officials allegedly attempted to prevent the Tamil Nadu farmers from conducting prayers for rain in areas attached to Tamil Nadu public works department (PWD) at Thekkady.

There were heated arguments between Kerala Police officials and farmers nearly for an hour after which they were allowed to conduct ‘pooja’ located near the Inspection building of PWD. 

Tamil Nadu farmers have been following this practice for many years seeking almighty for good rain during southwest monsoon. 

Around 150 farmers led by Nallayam Perumal, secretary, Waters User Association, Chinnamanur, Dharves Mydeen, president Waters User Association, Cumbum and a pastor from a Church went to conduct the prayers.
