AIADMK general council date to be decided today?

Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami has asked all his cabinet colleagues to be present here on Thursday possibly to discuss the date for convening the General Council of the AIADMK to formalise V.K. Sasikala’s ouster from the general secretary post.

Sources said the Chief Minister has sent out messages to ministers asking them to reach Chennai by Thursday morning though a few were planning to reach the capital on Monday after Vinayagar Chaturthi and the weekend holidays.

“The CM and Deputy CM are  expected to meet the ministers and discuss with them the date for convening the general council meeting. Once consensus is reached, the general council may be called latest by Monday,” a source in the AIADMK said.

Sources said the general council is being called urgently to ratify the decision to remove Sasikala from general secretary post. AIADMK’s new deputy coordinator R. Vaithilingam had on Monday said that it has been decided to remove her from the post after the two factions merged.
