NBW against eight Tamil actors

Including Surya, Sathyaraj, Sarthkumar, Vivek and Sri Priya.

Ooty: In connection with a defamation case filed  in 2009, the judicial magistrate court here has  issued non-bailable warrant against eight cine actors, including Surya, Sathyaraj, Sarthkumar, Vivek and Sri Priya.

According to K. Vijayan, counsel for M.Rozario Maria Susai who is a freelance journalist here and petitioner in the case, on October 7, 2009 the South Indian Artistes Association (Nadigar Sangam) held a meet at Chennai to condemn a vernacular daily which allegedly carried out a report that tarnished the image of a cine actress.

“As some actors who spoke in the meet attacked the media as whole instead of targeting the particular vernacular daily, it irked Susai. He filed a defamation suit against the actors at the JM court in Ooty in 2009.  The actors they filed a case in the HC seeking to dispense with their personal appearance in this case at the Ooty court and also to quash the petition,” he noted. However, petitions were dismissed by HC last March. After that the actors failed appear in the JM court in Ooty.
