Bengaluru: Bengaluru City in-charge minister K. J. George on Saturday startled everyone when he dramatically announced that the state government will not hesitate to file a SLP in the Supreme Court against energy minister D. K. Shivakumar if any discrepancy is found in the charges against the latter in the denotification of land at Benniganahalli.

Speaking to reporters here at KPCC office, George said there is no question of discriminating against or for any one. He was reacting to queries about the state government's decision to file an SLP against BJP president and former chief minister B. S. Yeddyurappa on land denotification.

“There is no vendetta on the part of the state government against anybody. There is merit in Mr Yeddyurappa's case. If we find any merit in Benniganahalli land denotification issue involving Mr Shivakumar, then we will not hesitate to file SLP,” Mr George added. Mr. George also said that no force on this earth would be able to make Karnataka state Congress-free, not even Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Mr Yeddyurappa.

“The geographical and social clout and reach of the Congress party are very wide and deep. One must remember that when the entire country voted for Janata Party in 1977, it was Karnataka which returned Congress back to power in 1978. Karnataka is the stronghold of Congress and no one can dismantle it,” the minister said.
