Hyderabad: Princess Cruises, which operates Diamond Princess, has launched a search for a “best-in-class service provider with advanced, scientifically-proven cleaning and disinfection capabilities to perform work” for the ship.

In a statement, Princess Cruises president Jan Swartz announced the work would begin once the 3,700 guests and crew have disembarked, following the ship’s quarantine in Yokohama.

The company is seeking proposals and estimates from the most technologically advanced service in the business. The clean-up’s location will be announced soon.

“Our focus continues to be on the safety and well-being of our guests and crew. We are seeking to identify the best resources to partner with to clean and disinfect the ship from bow to stern,” Swartz said. The company has detailed the areas and requirements for cleaning and disinfecting which include practically every nook and corner of the ship. These include air handling units and ventilation.
