THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State police chief Loknath Behera has warned of stringent action against the members of the public taking law into their hands. Mr. Behera said that IG Thrissur-range M.R. Ajith Kumar will supervise the probe into the mob attack on a tribal youth at Attapadi alleging robbery, leading to his death. Agali DySP T. K. Subramanian will investigate the case under the direct supervision of Palakkad district police chief.  Two persons have already been held and all accused would be nabbed  soon, he said.

“The instances of the public forcibly detaining and attacking persons on suspicions of involvement in crimes have been noticed. This is not only unlawful, but unbecoming of a cultured society. In case of such instances, stringent action would be initiated," Mr. Behera said in a statement. He said that the public need only  alert the police in case of any unlawful activities or suspicions and the police would take necessary action.
