KOZHIKODE: Tension is prevailing at Panthirikara near Perambra following clashes between the BJP and CPM.  Hartal was observed at Panthirikara, on Wednesday, called by the CPM against 'BJP atrocities'.  The latest unrest is the bomb throwing incident at the house of Changaroth gram panchayat member and CPM leader K.P Jayesh in the wee hours of Wednesday. This happened hours after BJP worker Jithu Sreedharan's house was attacked at Kokkat, allegedly by 30 CPM workers. Jithu's father Sreedharan (52), mother Chandrika (49) and grandmother Janaki (80) suffered injuries and were admitted at Kozhikode medical college hospital.

This attack was provoked by the beating up of K.P Jayesh and another CPM worker at a marriage house, a couple of days ago. Mr Jayesh is recuperating at the hospital. Police has intensified patrolling in the area following the sequence of revenge clashes.

The hartal was total in Panthirikara. Perambra is witnessing frequent face-off between the two parties since the violence on the hartal day called by Sabarimala Karma Samiti, early this month. Bomb throwing incidents have become a nightmare to common public.
