New Delhi: Was BJP’s decision to field the Union minister, Mr Ravi Shankar Prasad to defend the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi after the Congress vice-president, Mr Rahul Gandhi accused him of taking money from Sahara and Birlas, a miscalculation?

On Thursday, activist and eminent lawyer, Mr Prashant Bhushan tweeted a “handwritten page” allegedly seized by Income Tax during its raids at Sahara Group offices regarding payoffs in 2010.

Posting the handwritten note showing names of politicians in the alleged pay-offs, Mr Bhushan tweeted: “A handwritten pg seized by IT in Sahara raid with payoffs of 2010. Last entry is 1.25-cr to RS Prasad.BJP should get better person to  defend Modi.” (sic)

Mr Prasad on Wednesday defended Mr Modi saying that the Prime Minister was as “pure as Ganga.” The alleged I-T note tweeted by Mr Bhushan also had names of other Congress politicians including Salman Khurshid and Digvijay Singh.
