Bengaluru: Chain-snatcher held, bikes, gold chains recovered

Bengaluru: The Wilson Garden police arrested a 29-year-old notorious robber and a chain-snatcher and solved 11 cases of robbery and chain snatching registered in different police stations across the city.

The accused, Mohammad Yusuf, is a resident of Ilyas Nagar in Banashankari. He was arrested based on a complaint filed by Narayana Swamy, a resident of Chikkaballapura.

The complainant told the police that he had come to the city to get his tractor engine repaired.

As he and his friend were walking near the Bada Makan Mosque in Wilson Garden police limits, two bike-borne men approached the duo and inquired if they were selling ganja.

When the two said they that had come to get a tractor engine repaired, one of the bike-borne men checked the pockets of one of the victims. When he resisted, another bike-borne man pulled out a knife, attacked and injured him in the neck and fled the spot.

After the victim filed the complaint, the police began the investigation and arrested Yusuf.

During the interrogation, the police found out that he was involved in over 11 cases of chain snatching, theft and robbery.

The police recovered two bikes worth `3 lakh, and gold chains weighing 76 gm from the accused.

The police are making efforts to nab his partner.
