Thiruvananthapuram international airport director shifted to Kolkata

Mr. Tharakan is being transferred to the engineering wing of Airports Authority of India in Kolkata.

Thiruvananthapuram: Thiruvananthapuram international airport director George Tharakan has been transferred to Kolkata.

According to sources, no fresh posting has been made. However, the name of S Dharmaraj was doing the rounds. He had earlier served at Thiruvananthapuram for a brief term.

Mr. Tharakan is being transferred to the engineering wing of Airports Authority of India in Kolkata. He was serving as Thiruvananthapuram airport director since 2015 April.

The change of airport director has come at a crucial time when land acquisition for the airport expansion is in advanced stages. A new aerobridge at the international terminal is also about to be commissioned soon.Eighteen acres of land is being acquired for expansion of the international terminal.

The Airports Authority of India was planning to upgrade the existing international terminal as an integrated terminal for domestic and international operations.
