Hyderabad:The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) will conduct a comprehensive study of the land pooling scheme (LPS) in Mumbai and Pune where it has yielded better results, before it implements the same on a large scale in Greater Hyderabad.

In a little more than a year ago, the HMDA had pooled 180 acres of land at Pratap Singaram out of the proposed 440 acres. It has to pool 1,000 acres of land in Korremula, Gowrelli and Nacharam. The HMDA is expected to garner Rs 800 crore through land pooling.

Currently, the plan is to develop plots of 2,800 square yards on once acre of land and the remaining area will be used to provide basic civic amenities such as roads, water, electricity and sewerage. Once the proposed regional ring road is completed, the land value will increase multi-fold.

An HMDA official said that for most of the land in the above mentioned areas oral consent from the farmers has been obtained.

The official said that the HMDA will pool and develop 1,240 acres after consent agreements with land owners to develop roads and other amenities.
