Shayara Bano
It was on her petition, that the government for the first time since Independence made its stand clear opposing triple talaq. Shayara Bano was given talaq in 2015. A year later, she move SC asking it to declare talaq-e-bidat illegal and unconstitutional.

Ishrat Jahan 
It was a phone call which changed the life of this citizen from Howrah. Her husband in 2015 had reportedly remarried gave Ishrat triple talaq over the phone. Ishrat had fought for maintenance from her husband.

Aafreen Rehman
The 26-year-old from Jaipur met her future husband in 2014. A year later, when her in-laws started harassing her for dowry she was forced to go back to her parents. There she received talaq via speed post. 

Gulshan Parveen
The victim of domestic violence was later divorced in a strange way. The 31-year-old said that her husband, on one fine, for no reason day sent her divorce on Rs 10 stamp paper.

Atiya Sabri
This 25-year-old from Uttar Pradesh was handed out a divorce written on a piece of paper. Prior to that she had filed a complaint against her in-laws for harassing her for Rs 25 lakh dowry.
