As per worldometers.info, India by Monday evening had 4,27,047 and 13, 717 deaths and the figures were fast increasing.

Despite high number of cases, the health ministry said India has one of the lowest cases per lakh population in spite of its high population density. It added that India’s cases per lakh population are 30.04 while the global average is more than its triple at 114.67. “This low figure is thus a testimony to the graded, pre-emptive and pro-active approach the Government of India along with the States/UTs took for the prevention, containment and management of COVID-19.

According to WHO 183,000 cases were reported today globally which is a record. The biggest increase in fresh cases are coming from Americas -- North and South -- that had 116,000 new cases followed by Brazil and India.
