Bengaluru: The new Legislative Assembly Speaker, Ramesh Kumar, has set a series of conditions for the public to enter or use the premises of the Legislators’ Home (LH) situated at a stone’s throw distance from Vidhana Soudha.

Last week, the new Speaker had held a series of meeting in this regard and decided to streamline the administration. In an order signed by the assembly secretary, S. Murthy, the secretariat has said clearly that members of the public other than legislators cannot enter or use the LH between 8 pm and 9 am. During this time, the public are also barred from using various facilities like the salon, library and gym situated inside the LH, the order said.

Keeping in view the strong criticism that more than legislators, the public and support staff of legislators use the LH during the night, the legislature secretariat said that only legislators were eligible to use the rooms allotted to them during the night.

There were major concerns about the parking lot too. The secretariat order seems to have addressed this issue: Only legislators were allowed to park their vehicle inside the LH and people coming to meet them had to park their vehicles outside.
