Power demand in Hyderabad at record high
Prabhakar Rao said the highest power demand in Hyderabad had increased from 2,950 MW last year to 3,276 MW this year.
Hyderabad: To meet the growing demand for power in Hyderabad, TS Transco has adopted advanced technology without constructing new towers and laying electric lines. It has fixed high temperature low sag (HTLS) conductors to the existing lines.
TSTransco CMD D. Prabhakar Rao said in a statement on Wednesday that the capacity of 220KV double circuit lines were doubled to the length of 70 km, saying Rs 1,100 crore. He said the work which normally takes three years was completed in three months. The task would have otherwise involved acquiring land and building new towers
Mr Prabhakar Rao said the highest power demand in Hyderabad had increased from 2,950 MW last year to 3,276 MW this year. He said that due to the increasing demand, the pressure on electrical lines and transformers had increased and interruptions in power supply were occurring in some areas where demand was higher.
He said that Transco had identified Mamidipally-Shivarampally, Malkapur-Shapurnagar, Shankarpally-Gachibowli lines as having higher pressure on power supply, where capacity should be increased.
