Northern TN districts to receive rains

Erode, Nilgiris, Salem, Tiruppur, Villupuram, Kanyakumari, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Theni and Perambalur are expected to receive rainfall.

A low-pressure system over the South Andaman Sea is expected to turn into a depression bringing more rains to Tamil Nadu, even as the Tamil Nadu government was involved with Central agencies to get back three districts of Kanniyakumari, Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi to normalcy after having been ravaged by Cyclone Ockhi.

Chennai: After bringing rains to Coimbatore, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, and Tiruchy, upper air circulation is to bring rainfall to northern parts of Tamil Nadu, while the temperature is to remain low in Chennai.

Erode, Nilgiris, Salem, Tiruppur, Villupuram, Kanyakumari, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Theni and Perambalur are expected to receive rainfall by Wednesday.

Regional Meteorological Centre officials said that while heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over north Tamil Nadu, thunderstorms accompanied with gusty winds are also to follow rains.

“Maximum temperature is likely to range from around 38 degree to Celsius 41 degree Celsius in some parts of Tiruvallur, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Kancheepuram, Tiruchirapalli, Perambalur and Karur districts for next few days. However, rains are awaited in Chennai. The sky condition is likely to be partly cloudy with a maximum and minimum temperatures expected to be around 37 degree Celsius and 28 degree Celsius,” said RMC officials.
