Online nominations for ZPTC, MPTC elections

Candidates can file their papers without much fanfare.

Nizamabad: For the first time, nominations were invited online in ensuing ZPTC, MPTC elections. Telangana State Election Commission provided online nomination facility for contesting candidates.

Without fanfare, candidates of political parties or Independents could file their papers online. But, candidates should submit hard copy of the nomination papers to the returning officer concerned within the stipulated time.

Nomination process began on Monday for the first phase of ZPTC, MPTC elections to be held on May 6.  Around five nominations for ZPTC members and 26 nominations for MPTC members were received on Monday. BJP, TRS and Independent candidates filed their papers. To observe the election process, district election observer and Inspector General of Police for Telangana State Special Police Abhilasha Bisth will come to the district on April 23.

Speaking to newsmen here on Monday, District Election Officer and collector M. Rammohan Rao said that elections will be conducted for 27 ZPTC, 299 MPTC member posts in three phases. Around 7.79 lakh voters will poll their votes in the district, he said. Panchayat Raj elections will be conducted on party basis and symbols concerned will be allotted to the contestants, he said.
