Chikkamagaluru: A man who defied quarantine instructions and was mingling in the public has been detained by the Chikkamagaluru police.

The man, identified as Irfan, 36, was taken into custody based on a complaint by the district surveillance officer Manjunath at the Basavanahalli police station on Sunday. Irfan is a resident of Nehru Nagar in Chikkamagaluru.

Irfan had returned from Dubai on March 11 and was asked to stay indoors for a period of 14 days. He was given a list of precautionary measures he had to follow.  He was told to remain in isolation in his house.
