Tirupati: YSRC activists seek SCS, block traffic for 3 hours

Communist parties also joined YSRC protesters to express their support for the demand.

The party leaders said that the legislator, who was on an indefinite fast till he was shifted to the government general hospital on Sunday evening after his arrest on Saturday, took part in a party programme where some TD functionaries from the 18th division joined the YSRC.

TIRUPATI: YSRC activists, demanding special category status to Andhra Pradesh, on Thursday blocked the highway in Tirupati. Activists lead by party general secretary Bhumana Karunakar Reddy blocked the highway at Tanapalli causing disruption to the traffic movement leading to jams and vehicles being lined up for a couple of kilometres on either side of the road. Communist parties also joined YSRC protesters to express their support for the demand.

Speaking to media persons, Mr Bhumana Reddy said, "The TD government has failed to achieve special category status to the state. The TD has started playing a drama after four years. Many U-turns were taken by the Chief Minister and the party. YSRC stood for special category status from the beginning. There are many incidents, where TD tried to suppress the agitations for SCS".
