Bypoll in 5 Kerala constituencies too

The polling will be held on October 21 and date of counting is October 24.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Bypolls to five Assembly constituencies in Kerala will be held on October 21.

The constituencies goi-ng to polls are Aroor, Manjeshwaram, Erna-kulam, Vattiyoorkavu and  Konni. Barring Manjeshwaram, the polls in other constituencies were necessitated because of the electon of sitting MLAs to Parliament. The bypoll to Manjeshwaram constituency is being held because of sitting IUML MLA P.B. Abdu Razak’s death in October last.

The model code of conduct has come into effect in these constituencies because of the announcement of the polls. The poll schedule; issue of notification will be on September 23, last date of nominations September 30, scrutiny October 1 and last date of withdrawal of candidature October 3.

The polling will be held on October 21 and date of counting is October 24.

Three sitting MLAs of the Congress and one of the CPM had resigned from Assembly following their election as MPs. K Muraleedharan who got elected from Vadakara, Hibi Eden from Ernakulam and Adoor Prakash  from Attingal vacated Vattiyoorkavu, Ernakulam and Konni assembly constituencies.

A.M. Areef who won from Alappuzha vacated Aroor Assembly constituencies.
