Mahadayi water dispute: BJP team to meet Goa CM Manohar Parikkar on Monday

Hubballi: BJP leaders here have finally decided to take a delegation to Goa on September 25 to persuade its Chief Minister Manohar Parikkar to give Karnataka’s farmers their share of the Mahadayi river water.

Senior BJP leader Jagadish Shettar on Thursday assured farmers, who staged a sit in dharna before his home, that the delegation would try to do its best on their behalf.

"The BJP wants to give top priority to early implementation of the Kalasa Banduri project to bring relief to drought prone farmers of the state. A delegation comprising of  Union Minister, Prakash Javadekar, who is in charge of BJP’s affairs in Karnataka,  state BJP chief, B S Yeddyurappa, and senior leaders, Prahlad Joshi, K S Eshwarappa and I will visit Goa on Monday and I am confident that its Chief Miniser, Manohar Parikkar will cooperate with us in finding a solution to the Mahadayi water dispute," he said.
