Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala University has not taken any steps to find out the answer sheets of the degree examinations of Shivrenjith, the main accused in the University College stabbing case.

There was an allegation that he passed the exams through malpractices as he had failed miserably in the first semester in 2014. However, in 2016, he cleared the degree with flying colours passing all exams.

He passed the first semester in his fourth attempt and the exams up to fourth taking supplementary exams.

However, the final results showed that he scored 70 per cent marks in the fifth and sixth semesters.

The university authorities could not even find out the answer papers of Shivrenjith, Naseem and Pranav, the SFI leaders accused of stabbing a colleague on the campus, for probing the alleged cheating in exams.

Meanwhile, the Crime Branch has seized two smartphones from the houses Shivrenjith and Naseem, also accused of committing fraud on a Public Service Commission (PSC) test for police recruitment.

The Crime Branch sleuths seized one phone each from both their houses while they are still in judicial custody at the Poojappura central jail.

PSC vigilance had earlier found that the fraud was committed using a Chinese smartwatch that can scan printed material.

They had reportedly used the watch with a SIM card to send the scanned question paper to somebody outside the exam hall as an image. The person would send back the answers to the watches as messages, the officials said.
