Hyderabad: Much awaited relief for the agricultural sector is on the anvil as the government announced that power supply will be supplied 24x7, not just during the Rabi and Kharif seasons but throughout the year.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy said that they have started 24x7 power supply to the agriculture sector on pilot basis in three districts, namely Medak, Nalg-onda and Karimnagar.

About 20 farmers from Nalgonda district said that they don't need 24x7 power supply and some farmers even SMSed him regarding this. But the minister said that the uninterrupted power supply was being provided because the government wanted to enco-urage the farmers who had been hitherto growing Kharif and Rabi crops only.
