Hyderabad: Police lathicharged on Thursday lathicharged National Students Union of India (NSUI) leaders, university students and their parents who were protesting the collection of fee by Guru Nanak University, leaving many of them injured.

The protests, now 45 days old, are being led by NSUI state president Balmuri Venkat. Among those injured in the lathicharge was Ibrahimpatnam NSUI president Nanda Kishore. He was taken to a hospital.

Venkat condemned the behaviour of the police and alleged that they appeared to be hand in glove with the management who had the blessings of the Chandrashekar Rao government. "We will continue the agitation until justice is done to the students," he said.
