Chennai: Observing that disability is an impairment may be cognitive, developmental, intellectual, mental, physical, sensory or some combination of these and it substantially affects a person's life activities, the Madras high court has doubled the compensation awarded to a 57-year-old agriculturist, a widower, whose both legs were amputated following a road accident and due to which he could not look after his nonagenarian mother.
