Anticipatory bail granted to Kanthapuram by Kerala High Court
The case has been registered on a complaint filed by Muhammad Naseeb, a former student, under section 420 (Cheating) of IPC.
Kochi: Kerala High Court on Wednesday granted anticipatory bail to Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musliyar who is an accused in a cheating case.
The cleric is the 13th accused in a case registered by Kunnamangalam police for allegedly cheating students of Markaz Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET). According to cops, the institute offered fake diploma course.
The court accepted the plea of the petitioner that his custodial interrogation was not needed. He was not involved in its day-to-day affairs, his counsel submitted.
According to the prosecution, accused persons who are the office bearers of the institute offered courses after collecting Rs 1,50,000 during the period from 2012 to 2015 for the diploma in automobile engineering. But the certificate was not valid.
