Hyderabad: Khairatabad Ganesh to be one foot shorter

Hyderabad: Works on Hyderabad’s tallest Ganesh idol, the Khairatabad Ganesh, is all set to begin for the festival that will be celebrated on August 25 this year.

Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav Committee chairman, Sudarshan said on Sunday that the idol would be 57 feet tall, 1 foot shorter than last time.

After observing Ekadashi, work on the idol will begin with a special karra (sticks) puja, performed with bamboos. This event would be attended by Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Khairatabad legislator C. Ramachandra Reddy, Khairatabad corporator Vijay Reddy. RSS and VHP personnel at 4 pm.
