Chennai: Averring that teachers' role is very crucial in shaping the future of students, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami urged teachers to devote some time with their students and make them achievers.

"A small interaction with students will bring big change in students' lives. Teachers should indulge in pep talk.. they will become achievers if you motivate them saying 'you are born to achieve, you are close to achieving your goals' … Then they will be in a position to convert stumbling blocks into stepping stones for success," Mr. Palaniswami said.

Speaking at the 20th convocation of SSN college here on Friday, the Chief Minister said despite being born in an ordinary family one can scale new heights and create industrial revolution.

"What we were or are does not matter. What is of paramount importance is for whom we should be. What we need for this faith, hard work and self confidence," Mr. Palaniswami said, evoking spontaneous applause from students and parents who have gathered for the event.

"Society's development does not stop with economic growth. Food, education, Medicare, housing and clothing are vital," he added.
