KASARGOD: A clear evidence for the CPM hand in the murders of Youth Congress workers Kripesh and Sharath Lal at Periya recently has come out. A CPM leader had threatened in a speech a month ago that the Congressmen who attacked the party leaders would be eliminated. The party has been asserting so far that it has no role in the twin murders.

A video of the blood-chilling speech made by CPM district secretariat member V.P.P. Musthafa at a party function at Kallyot, near Periya, was shared on the Facebook page of CPM workers.

He minced no words in making the provocative speech and said: “We have forgiven them to the maximum in all issues up to the attack on our leaders Peethambaran and Surendran. But a further tension will see the CPM shedding its patience and flying like a rocket. That will make all the political opponents — the Congress leaders Govindan Nair, Baburaj and whoever is there —  completely scatter so that there will not be anything left for the funeral. So, the Congress men should tell Bekal police that this was the response of the CPM. Whatever be the legal steps, you know how the CPM will react in its own way and style.”

The speech was made after the CPM Periya local committee member A. Peethambaran and another leader Surendran were attacked by a gang of Congress workers, including Sharath Lal.

The death threat is similar to the one issued by a CPM local leader at Vadakara before the murder of RMPI leader T.P. Chandrasekharan in 2012. The then CPM Onchiyam local secretary Gopalakrishnan had publicly threatened that unless Chandrasekharan mended his ways, his head would be scattered like the Pookkula (flower bunch) of the coconut tree.
