Chennai: Construction worker electrocuted

According to police, Gulam Azad who is building a house at Anagaputhur employed three construction workers from Villupuram.

Chennai: A 28-year-old woman died after she came in contact with a live wire at Anagaputhur on Tuesday morning. The deceased was identified as Selvi (28), a construction worker from Villupuram.  According to police, Gulam Azad who is building a house at Anagaputhur employed three construction workers from Villupuram.

Sources said, on Tuesday at around 11:30 am when Selvi was carrying an iron ladder to the second floor of the house, the ladder came in contact with a high voltage electric wire over the head. Two of Gulam Azad’s co-workers identified as Parasuraman (28) and Manikandan (32) of Villupuram, who came to rescue her, also sustained injuries.

The three victims were rushed to Chromepet government hospital where Selvi was declared brought dead. Parasuraman and Manikandan are undergoing treatment. 

A case has been registered with  Shankar Nagar police and further investigations are on. The police have also taken Gulam Azad, the owner of the house, into custody and carrying out inquiries.
