AP govt appoints members to Waqf Board

The Andhra Pradesh government appointed members to the Andhra Pradesh State Waqf Board, which was constituted under the Waqf Act 1995, exercising the powers conferred under Sub-Sections (9) of Section (14) and Section (15) of the Waqf Act 1995.  Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government appointed members to the Andhra Pradesh State Waqf Board, which was constituted under the Waqf Act 1995, exercising the powers conferred under Sub-Sections (9) of Section (14) and Section (15) of the Waqf Act 1995. Minority welfare department secretary A. Md Imtiaz issued G.O.Ms. No. 47 on Saturday.

Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Council member Md Ruhullah and Legislative Assembly member Hafeez Khan were nominated to the Waqf Board. Also, Shaik Khaja, who was elected from Mutawalli under Section 14(1)(b)(iv) of the Wakf Board, has been appointed as a member of the board.

Besides these members, the state government nominated another eight members to the Wakf Board. Khadar Basha, Meer Hussain, Shafi Ahmed Khadry, Shireen Begum (IPS Officer and a woman member), Barakath Ali, J. Naseer Basha, Patan Shafi Ahmed, and Baseena Begum are the nominated members of the board.

As per the G.O. issued by the state government, the members of the Andhra Pradesh Waqf Board should meet soon to elect one from amongst themselves as the chairperson of the board. According to the sources, one of the nominated members, Khadar Basha, will be the new chairman of the AP State Wakf Board.
