Water to TN: Cauvery samiti passes six-point resolution

Made Gowda stated that Karnataka should not release any more Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.

Mysuru: Disappointed over the Supreme Court’s latest order directing Karnataka to release 2,000 cusecs Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu  until further orders, Cauvery Hitarakshana Vedike led by its head G Made Gowda held a meeting and passed a six-point resolution unanimously, in Mandya on Thursday.

Mr Made Gowda stated that Karnataka should not release any more Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, and should instead allow water to flow into the state’s canals to irrigate the standing crops.

Compensation
Mr. Made Gowda wanted the state government to immediately announce compensation for the crop loss sufferred by farmers and also protect lakes.
The state government should withdraw the cases filed against  farmers who were arrested during Cauvery agitations and release them, he demanded.

No Govt order
Meanwhile, the authorities at the four reservoirs in the Cauvery catchment area of Karnataka are yet to release water and there was no government order to this effect till late evening.
