Hyderabad: The Civil Services main examination 2019 commenced with the general essay paper on Friday. Of the 658 allotted students from Hyderabad, about 641 attended the exam in three test centers allotted in the twin cities.

At the all India Level, over 4 lakh aspirants appeared for the preliminaries in June, out of whom 11845 were declared qualified for the main examination, which is being held from September 20th to 29th in 24 centres across India.

Experts are advising aspirants to be careful when it comes to instructions for the further schedule of exams, “All aspirants are advised to go through the instructions carefully. In the recent past the U.P.S.C has been imposing penalties for violation of instructions as well as for illegible handwriting and inappropriate signages in the answer booklet. The examiner has the discretion to award penalty marks which are deducted from the total marks scored by the candidates. Even a penalty of one mark can make a huge difference in an examination of this scale.”

The experts add that as the answers have to be written in the question - answer booklet provided by the commission, the space limit and the word limit has to be strictly adhered to. As far as possible, it is advisable for aspirants to time every answer and attempt the maximum number of questions, as it gives a scope for higher marks.
