Bengaluru: Incessant rains have damaged roads across the city. But the traffic police have braved the rains to fix damaged roads, though it is the responsibility of the BBMP.

The Ashok Nagar traffic police had received many complaints about potholes on Vivek Nagar Main Road. Instead of waiting for the Palike to act, the policemen decided to take up a special drive of their own to fill potholes.

On Monday evening, traffic policemen were seen filling up potholes and even sprinkling water from a damaged water pipe nearby.

All they wanted was a little better and safer ride for motorists.

A traffic policeman told Deccan Chronicle, “There were many requests from commuters to fill that pothole. We asked the BBMP, but nothing happened. So we were forced to fill it on our own. At least for some time, commuters can move about freely."

He said that a water pipeline running under is damaging the road repeatedly.

“This was a major problem for the past two months. The police filled the pothole with cement and crushed stones. But we are sure that the pothole will resurface in one week,” said Satish, a shopkeeper.
