Bengaluru: Dejected after his younger brother's death, a 20-year-old student ended his life along with his mother by coming under a moving train near Devanahalli on Monday evening. The incident came to light on Tuesday morning after passersby found the bodies on the track and informed police.

The deceased have been identified as Sarojamma, 40, and her son, Surya Tej, 20, a PU student. Sarojamma was the wife of Subramani, a labourer, and the family lived in Yeliyur near Devanahalli.

The couple's youngest son Chandra Tej, an SSLC student, had ended his life a few days ago, after his parents reprimanded him for not studying well. Sarojamma and Surya Tej were depressed after the incident. On Monday evening, they went to railway station in Devanahalli and ended their lives.

“Their identities were established after a note was found in Surya’s pocket. He mentioned that no one is responsible for their death and they were taking the step as they could not bear the death of Chandra. He also mentioned that they should be buried next to Chandra and requested that a cricket bat, ball and pair of slippers should be placed inside his grave. He has also listed the names of the people from whom he had borrowed money and requested to repay them with the amount kept near the TV at his house," the police said.

However, it is also said that Subramani had become a habitual drunkard and the family was upset. As he picked up a fight with Chandra and assaulted him, the latter had reportedly killed himself. Byappanahalli railway police have registered a case.
