Lens on social media in festive month

Hyderabad: In view of Ramzan, Rama Navami, and Hanuman Jayanthi falling being celebrated in the same month, city police chief C.V. Anand stressed the need to keep a close tab on hate mongers and netizens who post blasphemous or instigating posts on social media.

“Cases will be filed against such persons and serving notices to them would be expedited for further action,” he told the personnel during a review with the city police force on Tuesday.

During the VC held with all SHOs, patrol cars, blue colt teams, and personnel from crucial wings, he instructed them to ensure that all the festivals conclude smoothly.

To avoid inconvenience to devotees and commuters, Anand stressed on crowd monitoring and traffic management at religious places and also to remain vigilant and enhance visible policing to render swift responses.

Joint inspections with other departments along the procession routes were also mandated. Furthermore, SHOs and DIs were instructed to stretch beyond their working hours during the festive month.

In addition, he also instructed all officers to minimise delays in the movement of processions and monitor them closely. “Keep an eye on rowdies, suspects sector-wise and PS-wise. Revive peace committees,” he added.

Apprising about the D-CAMO (Drones & Cameras Maintenance Organisation), Anand said that it will coordinate with all PSs to take up repairs and maintenance. Targets were also fixed PS-wise to fix new CCTVs in strategic locations and grey points.

He also emphasised the importance of anti-sabotage checks, liaising with other emergency services during the upcoming festivals.
