MITS Sparkers make mark at Noida event

TIRUPATI: Students from Madanapalle Institute Of Technology and Science (MITS), Chittoor district participated in the 4th Asia level Hybrid Vehicle Challenge organised by the Imperial Society of Innovative Engineers (ISIE) India. Principal of Madana-palle Institute of Technology and Science Dr.C.Yuvaraj on Tuesday said, “Students from mechanical, electrical and electronics engineering and electronics and communication engineering formed as an interdisciplinary team named 'MITS Sparkers'  that qualified in the Pre-virtual and virtual rounds. They participated in the final dynamic round held at Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida (U.P). In the competition, they qualified in the technical inspection and stood at 22nd place.”

The team comprised both third and second year students from three different departments. As a part of the event they manufactured a Hybrid vehicle under the supervision and guidance of the Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering Dr P. Surya Narayana Raju, Professor Jilani from ECE, Mentor Rizwan Ali and Anil from APSSDC.

The hybrid vehicle, this is capable of attaining a speed of 80 km/hr within 1 minute with the 306cc imported engine. As a hybrid approach the manufactured vehicle can also be operated with a BLDC motor and battery set up. Specially Designed Suspension and braking system is embedded in to the vehicle for proper functionality. It took 6 months for the students for entire process of manufacturing of the vehicle and the cost of the project was 4 lakhs.
