G. Sudhakaran, PWD Minister

Kannur: “PWD Minister G.  Sudhakaran is suffering from cataract and needs  urgency surgery to correct his vision as he  cannot distinguish between sparrows and eagles,”  according to  Mr Suresh Keezhattur, representative of  ‘Vayalkilikal,’ the action council of farmers agitating  against the takeover of the paddy fields for NH bypass at Taliparamba. He was reacting to the statement of Mr  Sudhakaran in the Assembly on Tuesday  that Vayalkilikal (paddy sparrows) are not sparrows  but eagles.

He said that Mr  Sudhakaran had forgotten the party’s historic past and hence paddy sparrows were eagles in his eyes.  Mr Suresh also asked the minister to withdraw his  statement as he was unaware of the facts.   The venue of the agitation, a temporary pandal,  was set on fire after arresting the last volunteer of the agitation, he said. It was  evidence of the government’s  fascist attitude.

The agitators were trying to  resist the  takeover the land by pouring diesel over their bodies. Even those who were part of the ruling front had realised the truth and extended support to the ‘Vayalkilikal,’ he pointed out.   The state will witness a massive march  to Keezhattur on March 25. Will the CPM leadership prevent the  people from the  solidarity march?, he asked.

AIYF leaders to meet Vayalkilikal
A team of All-India Youth Federation(AIYF), the youth wing of the CPI, led by state secretary  Mahesh Kakkath  would visit Keezhattur to meet the agitators. The state committee of AIYF which met  here on Tuesday decided to extent support to the farmers’ agitation.  The move has the blessings  of CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran, it is believed.  The CPI has been supporting the agitation  from the beginning.
