Common Law Admission Test evokes good response

The test will be held on May 13 across the country.

More than 1.13 lakh students from over 500 engineering colleges appeared for the exam.

Kochi: With only ten days left for the application process of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) for admission to the UG, PG programmes in 19 National Law Universities, nearly 37,000 candidates have already applied for it. The test is being conducted this year by the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) which is based here. It is for the first time that NUALS is conducting CLAT since the test was launched in 2008.

“Last year around 45,000 students applied for CLAT. So we expect around 50,000 registrations this time,” said G. Mahadev, Registrar, NUALS.  Students can apply till March 31 online. The hard copy of the filled in online application form need not be sent to the CLAT Office. The candidate is advised to submit his/her application form only after he/she is absolutely sure of the information he/she provides in the form.

The test will be held on May 13 across the country at various centres from 3 to 5 pm. In Kerala, the test centres are at Trivandrum, Ernakulam and Kozhikode.  More details are available at www.clat.ac.in. There is more interest in LLB of late with employment opportunities for law graduates going up with many public sector companies and banks recruiting law graduates to the position of legal officers.
