Visakhapatnam: Walking tracks in the Vuda Health Arena at the foot of the Kailasagiri hill are still unfit for use even after completing the underground cabling to connect substations, causing inconvenience to joggers and walkers. The Andhra Pradesh Transmission Corporation (AP Transco) is laying the cables in some areas of the city to connect the power substations.

However, delay in completion of the work and also uneven levelling post completion of work has drawn flak from the public. APTransco has completed laying cables under major stretches in the Health Arena, but restoration work is pending and wherever it has been done it presents a shoddy picture. “A good number of people hit the Health Arena in the morning and eve-ning for walking. We ha-ve two tracks, a tar track for cycling and a sandy surface for walking. The sandy stretch has been dug up to lay the cables. Though most of the work is over, they have not finished it completely. This shoddy work has discouraged many people from going to the park for walking,” said Mr Pedda Somulu, honorary president, Health Arena Walkers’ Association.

The roads in some areas of the city such as on Beach Road near Lawsons’ Bay Colony were not properly levelled after wrapping up the work. Vuda has spent a huge sum of money for the Health Arena to lay the tracks and other facilities. He urged the Vuda authorities to direct the APTransco to complete the work and restore the dug up stretches at the earliest.
